Construction of the dam: 1878-1881
Lac de Pont is an artificial lake whose construction was completed in 1882.
It was implemented to supply the Burgundy Canal and will then have the role of supplying the adjacent municipalities with drinking water.
It is a calm place, having preserved a certain wild character, and where the strolls and jogging are as picturesque as the bathings are pleasant.
The lake also has a supervised beach during the summer season.
In 2018, major works were carried out to strengthen the safety of the dam and promote the tourist potential of the site.
Two restaurants are near the beach and allow the discovery of local specialties.
The Lac de Pont in the 20th century
Archives were found during the early 1920s and 1930s. Lac de Pont has always been an emblematic place in the Semuroise region.
These postcards demonstrate the tourist interest. Many Parisians made a stopover in Pont and took the opportunity to write to their families who had never had the opportunity to visit the region .
